Brendan is a nationally and internationally recognised freshwater ecologist with highly developed expertise in stream and lake ecosystems. He is experienced in stream ecosystem function, the effects of temperature and water quality on fish, and lake water quality. His extensive background in research and consultancy includes fish capture techniques, statistical population estimation, invasive species, fish passage, and ecotoxicology, and the risks of climate change and land use to freshwater quality. With a PhD in fisheries science, extensive record of published research, Emeritus Professorship at the University of Waikato, and broad background in biology, Brendan brings significant depth to our ecology capability and the support we provide to clients and communities. His expertise strengthens our ability to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions for the health of Aotearoa New Zealand’s freshwater environments.
