David is PDP’s Strategic Director for Technology & Innovation, where he: leads our adoption and governance of emerging technologies, including the use of AI and in particular, Microsoft Copilot; guides the Technology & Innovation Community of Practice to build capability and collaboration in innovation across our business; and oversees the running of “Innovate,” PDP’s internal platform for supporting and maturing our peoples’ good ideas.
Alongside his strategic responsibilities, David leads PDP’s Geospatial and Digital Services (GDS) team, where he works with our environmental science, remote sensing, and geospatial specialists to develop advanced data acquisition, analysis and communication solutions. Recent projects include: regional level predictive wetland mapping using LiDAR, optical imagery and machine learning techniques; satellite remote sensing to ongoingly monitor vegetation and land cover change; and natural hazards risk assessments to support infrastructure asset resilience building.
Additionally, David has more than 30 years’ experience in environmental management, contaminated land assessment, and project management, bringing a deep technical grounding to his strategic leadership. He has delivered significant work programmes involving environmental effects assessment, groundwater and soil contamination investigations, environmental and human health risk assessments, contamination remediation and site decommissioning projects, related consenting and regulatory approvals processes, carbon sequestration and climate change risk and adaptation assessments. This mix of experience supports David’s people focused, innovation driven approach to helping clients understand environmental values and risks, and plan for a changing climate.
