Jarred has over 15 years’ experience working as a freshwater ecologist in both the public and private sectors. He has provided technical support to a range of clients across a broad suite of industry sectors including agriculture, housing, heavy industry, energy, local and regional government, and quarrying. This includes work across both the south and north islands of Aotearoa. He also has a wealth of experience working at the science-policy interface, advising governance and community groups, iwi, and other organisational stakeholders.
Jarred is well-versed in monitoring aquatic ecosystems and has interpreted and reported on a wide variety of ecological datasets. He oversees multidisciplinary projects that blend the expertise of specialists working in the fields of lizard, avifauna, wetland, vegetation and estuarine ecology. He has prepared and presented expert evidence at hearings.
As a leader of PDP’s nationwide Ecology Group, Jarred is passionate about both the environment and people. He knows the importance of maintaining strong personal and working relationships with individuals and groups from different backgrounds, professions and organisations. This includes communicating science simply and clearly in a manner tailored to fit specific clients and audiences.
