Bid Writer and Communications Specialist | Auckland

Ready to help us win the work that matters, and tell the stories behind it?

Pattle Delamore Partners is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading environmental science, engineering, and advisory consultancies.

Guided by our purpose, Today Shapes Tomorrow, we care deeply about delivering solutions for our clients and communities that meet today’s needs, while providing for the future.

Join our multi-disciplinary team, and help create innovative and enduring outcomes for people, place, economy, and environment.

We’re looking for a bid writer and communications specialist to join our small, collaborative Marketing and Communications team on a permanent, full-time basis in Auckland.

About the role

This is a dual-focus role, with bid writing and proposal support at its core, alongside broader communications work. You’ll work closely with our Marketing and Communications Director and Communications Lead, our Strategic Directors – Clients and Markets, and technical specialists and leaders from across the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Write and coordinate bid content, proposals, tenders and expressions of interest.
  • Develop and maintain capability statements and CV templates, keeping our people and project profiles current and bid ready.
  • Write project profiles, case studies and wider content for our website and social channels, and also make these ready to be repurposed in bids and proposals.
  • Curate and submit external award submissions, working alongside technical leaders across the business.
  • Conduct interviews profiling our people and their work, turning their stories into engaging content that highlights the talent and culture of our organisation.
  • Support technical directors to draft and edit thought leadership across our service areas, building our wider profile and credibility in the market.
  • Write and edit contributions for our internal newsletter, turning project and people stories from technical staff into clear, engaging copy.
  • Support internal updates and all-staff communications, and help support our wider business development effort.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience writing bids, proposals, or tenders in a professional services environment, ideally consultancy or another B2B setting, with a track record of contributing to successful bid outcomes.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage bid timelines and keep quality high under deadline pressure.
  • Confidence writing across formats, including bid and tender documents, newsletter articles, thought leadership, project profiles, website copy, and internal updates.
  • Comfortable writing short-form social captions and simple copy in our voice, and curating content from technical staff.
  • Genuine interest in brand, audience, and positioning, with an eye for a good story and how to tell it creatively.
  • Confidence engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from technical specialists to executives to clients.
  • Around 4+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, and a collaborative approach to working across disciplines and levels.

Why join us?

  • Fully subsidised health insurance and income protection.
  • The ability to purchase extra annual leave through salary sacrifice.
  • Salary top-up for parental leave, for all primary carers.
  • A flexible, hybrid working culture.
  • Opportunities to get involved in our inclusion, community, and sustainability groups.
  • Professional development support, including membership fees and continued study.
  • Career growth within one of New Zealand’s leading employee-owned consultancies.

If you enjoy the challenge of a bid deadline as much as a good story well-told, we’d love to hear from you.
