Ecologist (Terrestrial)

To be considered for this role, you must be an ecologist with strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in ecological investigations, with a focus on terrestrial and wetland ecology and, an interest in applying emerging technologies to ecological assessment will be beneficial. PDP’s ecologists are leaders in combining ecology, remote sensing skills and techniques to map and assess ecosystems such as wetlands and riparian areas.
About the Role
- Assist with assessing environmental impacts to a range of terrestrial ecosystems.
- Apply your skills to undertake wetland delineation, wetland vegetation surveys and wetland condition assessments.
- Contribute to large scale vegetation mapping projects that leverage remote sensing technologies.
- Undertake fieldwork to support one-off projects and ongoing monitoring programmes.
- Prepare and implement Ecological Management Plans, restoration, and planting plans.
- Prepare technical reports, site management plans, monitoring strategies and site audit reports.
- Interest in aquatic, avian, herpetological and invertebrate ecology is an advantage.
- Business travel (including overnight stay) will be required as work can be throughout NZ.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in Environmental Science with a focus on Ecology.
- 2-4 years’ experience in New Zealand terrestrial ecology related disciplines (plant ecology preferred), although 2 years is the minimum requirement, more years would be an advantage.
- Have some understanding of planning provisions guiding ecological assessments in NZ.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A collegiate, team-player attitude.
