About the Role
At PDP, we’re passionate about solving New Zealand’s most pressing environmental challenges, and we’re seeking a junior Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer to join our Nelson team! Whether you’re a recent graduate or have some experience under your belt, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career with a company that values innovation, collaboration, and professional development. Plan and carry out site investigations for projects such as slope instability, pipelines, landfills, and building foundations.
- Planning and carrying out site mapping and site investigations for geohazards, geotechnical, contaminated soil and groundwater projects throughout the Top of the South Region. With the opportunity to undertake these types of projects across New Zealand
- Developing engineering geological models and undertaking slope stability analysis, and liquefaction assessments
- Assisting with the design of remedial works and supervising earthworks and construction
- Writing technical reports and contributing to client solutions
- Building your project management skills by coordinating subcontractors and liaising with clients and regulators
- Providing specialist geotechnical input on projects across multiple disciplines.
What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Science or Engineering with a geotechnical or geology focus
- Ideally 1+ years’ experience in geotechnical investigations, assessments, and reporting (but graduates are welcome to apply!)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Experience with QGIS, CoreGS, Slide and CLiq is beneficial but not essential.
- A creative problem-solver with a keen eye for innovative solutions
- A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude
