Graduate Environmental Scientist

We are seeking a recent graduate with a degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or Natural Resources Engineering to launch their career with us. In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of projects, working alongside New Zealand’s leading scientists and engineers. As part of our Foundation for Success Graduate Programme, you’ll receive mentorship and the ongoing support you need to thrive as a technical professional.

What you’ll do

  • Manage water resource projects by co-ordinating staff and subcontractors, liaising with regulators client contacts and stakeholders
  • Undertake fieldwork to collect a range of environmental data.
  • Prepare and deliver site management plans, monitoring strategies and site audit reports.
  • Assess environmental impacts to fresh and saline waterbodies (rivers, lakes, wetlands, estuaries, tidal inlets).
  • Statistical and data analysis, conceptual model development and assessment against guidelines.
  • Prepare technical reports to support clients.
  • Assist with Land Development Engineering peer reviews on behalf of local councils.
  • Provide turn-key solutions, from initial conversation to proposal, to development and successful completion.
  • Prepare and review technical input into resource consent applications.
  • Apply company policies in health and safety, quality, administration and technical procedures.
  • Work with Senior Scientists and Engineers on the above.

  • A post-graduate degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or Natural Resources Engineering.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time.
  • A knack for providing pragmatic solutions to complex environmental challenges.
  • Strong technical report writing, data analysis, and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a willingness to continuously learn and grow.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a strong team player mindset.
  • Flexibility to work in remote locations and willingness to travel within New Zealand as needed.
