Hydrogeologist

About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at graduate level or with up to three years’ experience, to join our Auckland based water resources team. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of industry leading hydrogeologists, geologists, groundwater, and surface water engineers. This team provides services to both its own external clients as well as specialist input to projects across all PDP workgroups.
- Assist with field investigations including the supervision of drilling; field permeability tests (slug tests); pumping tests; stream flow gauging, groundwater quality sampling and level monitoring.
- Process and interpret field data.
- Analyse data using advanced computer software and spreadsheet programmes.
- Prepare hydrogeological cross-sections.
- Assist senior professionals with groundwater conceptual modelling and data preparation for groundwater numerical modelling.
- Prepare technical reports and correspond with suppliers, contractors and clients.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in geoscience, water resources management, environmental science, environmental engineering or equivalent with a focus on hydrogeology, geology, geomorphology or hydrochemistry. Postgraduate studies in hydrogeology preferred.
- Whilst we do not require minimum working experience, one to three years of related experience (e.g. via an internship, postgraduate, or in a graduate role) in hydrogeological field investigations or interpretation of hydrogeological and/or environmental information would be an advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Creative thinking to find innovative and sound solutions for our clients.
- Full drivers licence.
