We are looking for a Hydrogeologist who will be given the opportunity to continue to develop your career and work on a varied range of interesting projects for private and public sector clients. Overall, the incumbent will provide specialist hydrogeological input and leadership across a range of environmental services. This includes designing and managing groundwater investigations, conducting resource consent assessments, assisting with development of numerical groundwater models, and providing strategic advice on water resource management, allocation, and protection. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical work, supervising junior staff, and engaging directly with clients, regulators, and public sector.

About the role

  • Assist with field investigations including the supervision of drilling; field permeability tests (slug tests); pumping tests; stream flow gauging, groundwater quality sampling and level monitoring.
  • Process and interpret field data.
  • Analyse data using advanced computer software and spreadsheet programmes.
  • Prepare hydrogeological cross sections.
  • Assist senior professionals with groundwater conceptual modelling and data preparation for groundwater numerical modelling.
  • Prepare technical reports and correspond with suppliers, contractors and clients.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree in geoscience, water resources management, environmental science, environmental engineering or equivalent with a focus on hydrogeology, geology, geomorphology or hydrochemistry. Postgraduate studies in hydrogeology preferred.
  • At least 2 years of hydrogeological/groundwater experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Creative thinking to find innovative and sound solutions for our clients.
  • Full drivers licence.
