Our groundwater team is widely recognised as one of the leading hydrogeology practices in New Zealand, having delivered technical input on some of the country’s largest and highest-profile projects. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience on challenging, high-impact projects for private and public sector clients, supported by our senior specialists.  

About the role

You will support our industry-leading hydrogeology team by providing technical input on a diverse range of groundwater projects. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical work and engaging directly with clients, regulators, and public sector. This is an excellent role for someone eager to develop specialist skills while contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes on significant New Zealand projects.

  • Assist with field investigations, including supervision of drilling, pumping tests, stream flow gauging, groundwater sampling, and level monitoring  
  • Process and interpret field data using spreadsheets and specialist software  
  • Help prepare hydrogeological cross-sections and support conceptual and numerical groundwater modelling  
  • Contribute to technical reports and resource consent assessments  
  • Support senior staff with water resource management advice and client communication  

What you’ll bring

We are looking for an individual who it committed to solutions for our environment and using their talent and knowledge against a variety of projects. With your passion and diverse skill set we hope to deliver quality to our clients and therefore we hope the ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A degree in Geology or Earth Sciences with a clear hydrogeology component. Degrees in Environmental Engineering are acceptable only if they include formal geology training. Please note: environmental science, agricultural science, and geography degrees do not meet the qualification requirement for this role.   
  • Postgraduate studies in hydrogeology (or working towards one) are preferred, especially with exposure to geochemistry or groundwater effects assessments.  
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in hydrogeology (recent graduates with strong academic grades or internships are encouraged to apply)  
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills  
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail  
  • A proactive, creative approach to problem-solving  
  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence
