Senior Water Engineer – Water Infrastructure

As our Tauranga-based water projects continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Water Engineer to join our Water team.
This role provides the opportunity to contribute technical leadership across wastewater, water supply, and stormwater projects, while supporting the development of people, clients, and services. You will work on regionally significant projects, delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions and providing guidance to a capable and established engineering team.
About the role
This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, and team development within a growing regional water practice. You will:
- Provide technical leadership across water, wastewater, and stormwater projects, offering sound engineering judgement and clear direction.
- Plan, prepare, and review technical reports and contribute to investigation and detailed design work.
- Lead contract management activities, including cost estimation, tender preparation, and construction phase support.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development activity.
- Support and mentor engineers, contributing to team capability and succession.
- Maintain high standards of quality, health and safety, and risk management.
- Contribute to shaping the direction and growth of the water discipline locally and across the business.
What you’ll bring
You will bring strong technical capability, leadership experience, and a collaborative approach to project and client delivery, plus:
- A degree in Civil, Environmental, or Natural Resources Engineering
- A minimum of eight years’ experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater engineering
- Chartered Professional Engineer status, or working towards CPEng
- Demonstrated experience in engineering project and contract management
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain and justify technical approaches
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues
- A considered and practical approach to problem-solving, aligned with environmental and commercial outcomes.
