Team Leader – Ecology

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Ecologist to join our team. This position is a rare opportunity for someone with significant experience and understanding of aquatic or terrestrial ecosystems to help lead our team of enthusiastic scientists. The role will be based in one of our Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga or Wellington offices, however we are open to discussing other locations. The right person will join our other leaders to grow our firm’s ecological services, working amongst a national team.
- Provide leadership in developing and implementing the Ecology team’s approach to the market and further build and lead a high-calibre team of scientists.
- Manage ecology projects by co-ordinating team members and subcontractors, liaising with regulators, clients, and stakeholders, and overarching project management.
- Help expand PDP’s offerings in Ecological services through strong relationship management and business development.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Water Resources team in all PDP offices around NZ.
What you’ll bring
- Strong knowledge and experience in ecology, wetlands, field investigation procedures and national legislation/regulations.
- Strong knowledge and experience in ecological systems including freshwater and/or terrestrial field investigation procedures and national legislation/regulations.
- Proven leadership skills; a collegiate, team-player attitude.
- Creative thinking to find innovative and sound solutions for our clients.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary projects, integrating with scientists, engineers, ecologists, and others.
- Good technical report writing, data analysis and management skills.
- Degree, preferably a Masters or Post-Graduate level in Ecological Sciences from a well-recognised university.
- Strong business development skills including preparation of competitive proposals.
- Established reputation in the ecological sector.
- Statistical analysis experience.
