Technical Director – Water Quality

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Scientist or Engineer to help lead our talented team located in Auckland. With a strong background in the water industry and at least 15 years of consulting experience you will bring a proven track record of business development, client relationships and technical excellence. You will be a key competent in expanding our client base, and leading high-profile projects while helping to guide the team by fostering their professional development.
  • Lead and grow stormwater and surface water consultancy services, including business development and client engagement.
  • Build relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders while collaborating with hydrology and hydrogeology teams.
  • Oversee project delivery, including stormwater quality, environmental assessments, and remediation projects, ensuring quality and profitability.
  • Manage workflows, billing, and risk processes, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and technical standards.
  • Deliver end-to-end solutions, from initial client discussions to project completion.
  • Applying company policies in health and safety, quality, administration and technical procedures.

What You’ll Bring

  • A strong reputation in the water resource services market and a desire for ongoing professional growth.
  • Proven commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and a broad scientific foundation.
  • Expertise in technical reporting, data analysis, client negotiations, and team leadership.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to travel and work in remote locations within New Zealand.
