Mark is a Chartered Professional Engineer and recognised leader in hydrological and hydraulic engineering, with extensive experience investigating, analysing and modelling complex river and flood systems across New Zealand. He combines strong technical expertise with a practical understanding of wider river management, flood protection and environmental issues, and is frequently engaged to provide technical reviews, peer review advice and establish design principles for major infrastructure and flood management projects.

Mark is highly regarded within the industry for his leadership, technical excellence and contribution to advancing hydraulic modelling knowledge. He has published in academic journals, previously served as Chair of the Engineering NZ Rivers Group and Bay of Plenty Branch, and received both the IPENZ Furkert Award for his contribution to bored water tunnel hydraulics and Water New Zealand’s 2019 Stormwater Professional of the Year Award.

Known for his clear and practical communication style, Mark is skilled at explaining complex engineering and modelling concepts to technical and non-technical audiences alike, including through stakeholder engagement, consenting processes and expert evidence presentations.
