The transport sector encompasses a diverse range of markets, including Road, Rail, Airports, Seaports, Maritime, Cycleways, and Innovative Technologies.
This sector faces several critical strategic challenges, such as Climate Change (mitigation, emissions, and sequestration), the resilience of transport networks (particularly coastal infrastructure), and the transition to a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.
We bring together multi-disciplinary teams with expertise in contaminated land, airport wildlife hazard management, stormwater management and treatment, consent compliance, geotechnical services, air quality, emissions mapping, and hydrology/flooding/groundwater. These capabilities enable PDP to support the transport sector.
We collaborate closely with rail and road entities, local authorities, airports, transport operators, and ports. Storm Recovery Road Remediation – Marlborough Road Recovery Panel
As part of the Marlborough Roads Recovery Panel, PDP has assessed and provided remediation options, some of which involved PDP undertaking detailed design of retaining walls, for more than 10 landslides on roads in the Marlborough Sounds caused by storm events in 2021 and 2022.

Our team collaborated with Auckland Transport, Koru Environmental, Natural Habitats, Manaaki Whenua and Aireys Consultants to install living bus shelters across the Auckland bus network.
North Island Railway Culverts Assessment And Replacement Design
KiwiRail engaged PDP to provide culvert design and consenting services for ten culverts along the main North Island railway lines identified as high priority due to capacity issues, collapse or blockage, fish passage barriers, and maintenance issues.

KiwiRail sought support from a consulting group, which PDP led and delivered notice of requirements, consents and NZHPT (heritage) permits for the four stations in Palmerston North, Shannon, Levin and Otaki.
