eDNAbling Catchment Groups

PDP participated in an eDNA stream testing workshop, supporting local efforts to better understand and protect freshwater ecosystems. Hosted by Whangateau HarbourCare in collaboration with Mountains to Sea, and led by PDP and Healthy Waters, this hands-on workshop provided a deep dive into how environmental DNA (eDNA) can support conservation efforts and catchment remediation. The workshop introduced an exciting new tool for monitoring biodiversity and stream health.

PDP developed a GIS viewer and training workshops for three catchment care groups in Auckland, to demonstrate how geospatial data and eDNA sampling can be used as tools to guide decisions about biodiversity monitoring and facilitate catchment restoration. This work was commissioned by Auckland Council (Healthy Waters and Flood Resilience) and Ministry for the Environment (Access to Experts service).

We are proud to support community-led environmental initiatives, empowering local groups with scientific tools to monitor and protect their waterways.
