Lake Horowhenua and Arawhata Wetland Systems

PDP has been assisting Horizons Regional Council with their investigations into the hydrology supporting Lake Horowhenua and the proposal to develop a natural wetland system to effectively manage water nutrient loads currently impacting the lakes.

The work has involved developing a series of calibrated numerical models to assess the groundwater and surface water interactions in the area and how this system may affect local properties. Field monitoring and testing has been completed to address data gaps and refine the ongoing assessment.
