Mt Munro Wind Farm – Technical Expert Review and Evidence
PDP was engaged by Horizon Regional Council, Wellington Regional Council, Masterton District Council and the Tararua District Council to provide expert technical review and Environment Court evidence for the Mt Munro Wind Farm proposed to be developed by Meridian Energy in the northern Wairarapa. The Wind Farm will comprise of 20 wind turbines on rural land, which will produce around 300 GWh of renewable energy each year.
PDP’s role was to conduct a site walkover, review geotechnical, groundwater effects and air quality reports, comment on the feasibility of the project in the context of these disciplines, the management/mitigation measures proposed (e.g. dust, air quality) and review the proposed conditions associated with the construction and operation of the Wind Farm. Additionally, PDP prepared reviewed the greenhouse gas emissions and the effects on climate change with recommendations to ensure management of emissions over the project life cycle. PDP staff prepared Technical Reports, were involved in Caucusing with Meridian’s experts and presented evidence at the Environment Court Hearing in September 2024, with consent granted to Meridian Energy in February 2025.
This project emphasises PDP’s strong technical expertise within core disciplines that are associated with renewable-based projects and our ability to support de-carbonisation initiatives within the Energy sector.
