Ruakākā Energy Park – Environmental Secondment

Meridian Energy is delivering a major renewable energy development near Marsden Point, Northland – a 100-megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS) and a 130-megawatt solar farm. During the early construction phase, PDP provided an on-site Environmental and Sustainability Advisor through a secondment arrangement.

Our secondee oversaw consent compliance during preliminary earthworks, including daily bird surveys, implementation of sediment control measures, and construction of a large sediment retention pond. We were also on hand to respond to any unexpected finds, such as historical artefacts, culturally significant features, or unidentified contamination.

This secondment reflects PDP’s ability to place experienced technical staff directly on site, helping clients manage environmental obligations while supporting the delivery of New Zealand’s renewable energy infrastructure.
