Source Protection Zones – Horizons Region Council

PDP developed updated source protection zones for the surface water, groundwater and riparian drinking water supplies in the Horizons Region. A detailed assessment of each specific take was used to define three zones for each location, including identification of key risk factors within each zone to allow for more effective land management to protect the water supplies.

Subsequently the recommendations were reviewed in line with Horizons One Plan to determine if there were any gaps or conflicts in the existing regulatory framework that would need to be addressed to ensure sufficient protection of the water quality.
