PDP partnered with Ngāi Tamawhariua in Tauranga Moana. The project was led by the aspirations and knowledge of hapū, supported by wānanga and hīkoi (site visits).
We supported successful funding applications and undertook a detailed flood assessment of the low-lying, coastal papakāinga. This included hydrological and hydraulic numerical fluvial modelling combined with sea level rise projections, and a river geomorphology assessment.
Pragmatic short and long-term solutions were developed to support hapū resilience.
