Z Energy Climate Change Exposure Assessment

Z Energy Limited (Z) has engaged PDP in three packages of work surrounding climate change. In our latest project, PDP looked comprehensively at risks to critical assets and exposure to Z’s entire supply chain network, assessing likely disruption during extreme weather events induced by climate change in 2040. The scope of the supply chain assessment extended from port terminals through to each retail outlet, using the state highway network.

The figure to the left is a generic example of similar analysis applied to access of community centres in Christchurch from Lyttelton during coastal flooding with 20 cm of sea level rise. The image shows original planned routes with blue areas exposed to tidal flooding. The right image shows where alternative routes are identified during flooding (green) or if the centre cannot be accessed (red), and therefore is expected to be disrupted during future tidal flood events.
